CONFR – Social Media Workshop

by KSL on February 1, 2010

This past Friday I presented a three hour social media workshop up in Lebanon, NH, on behalf of CONFR . I just have to continually tip my hat (more like bending a the waste and bowing deeply) to Pam McDonald, the ED at CONFR, she is such a rockstar and works so hard to provide affordable, relevant, empowering educational opportunities to her membership and the professionals in the philanthropic world at large. It seems to me that she is always doing the impossible and endlessly optimistic. Exactly the kind of person you’d be better served to be around as often as possible. Muchas gracias Pam.

Our workshop attendees consisted of less than twenty folks but we had good conversation and a varied level of experience in social media. I found it striking that last year at this time I asked how many were considering social media planning and policy as part of their overall strategic plans for the coming year and perhaps two or three hands were raised. Friday I asked the same question and nearly every hand went to the air. That’s a pretty swift acclimation for an industry that’s notorious for being “slow adopters”. I’d encourage some of my business friends and clients to take a note from the social sector, there is much a business can learn about how to survive and indeed thrive during challenges time from a nonprofit.

As promised I’ve made the slides available for all y’all’s reference. Many thanks again for all the great questions and earnest consideration of the content provided.
